With great healthcare needs around the world, Clinicians are known for doing a great deal of volunteer charity work.  This charity work can often lack the resources for effective care.  Mar-Med wants to help by offering our devices as a charitable donation to any clinician who makes such a request.  While our product range is narrow, we have a wide desire to help clinicians in the USA and abroad doing charitable work with our digital tourniquets, nasal foreign body remover, or cutaneous drainage device.

One amazing clinician who we have been supporting for years with Tourni-Cot donations is Dr. Glen Barden.  Dr. Barden is a hand surgeon with his practice in Lakeland, FL, who continually volunteers around the world in emergency field hospitals.  Captured to the right is a video of one of many international relief programs Dr. Glen Barden MD volunteered for through the Samaritan’s Purse charity organization.  And below are images from Dr. Barden’s recent trip to Bhutan where he treated a case of Pyogenic Granuloma on a local civilian’s thumb with the help of the Tourni-Cot.

Captured above encapsulates a recent mission trip Dr. Barden volunteered for in Iraq. With the help of the Samaritan’s Purse organization, Dr. Barden and countless other selfless physicians continue to practice medicine around the globe.

Pyogenic Granuloma

A Pyogenic Granuloma (PG) is a benign vascular tumor that occurs on or within the skin and mucous membranes. Forming spontaneously, in capillary malformations, or on untreated skin injuries, Pyogenic Granuloma’s can be found on countless locations but most commonly on the face, arms, neck, chest, and fingers. The best treatment for Pyogenic Granuloma is excision, but unsurprisingly these vascular cases can be extremely bloody without proper control and can result in a high volume of blood loss.

In April of 2019, Dr. Barden spent a month in Bhutan volunteering for a relief program when he came across a patient with PG, pictured above.  Removal of PG can be dangerous without the proper resources.  Dr. Barden regularly uses Tourni-Cots to make removal of the masses like PG clean with minimal blood loss throughout the procedure.  The images above are a testimony to Dr. Barden’s great work with the help of the Tourni-Cot, which makes digits easy to treat by creating almost instant hemostasis.
